A solar eclipse is one of nature’s most extraordinary events. During totality, the moon completely covers the sun, revealing the glowing solar corona as daylight briefly turns to twilight. Annular eclipses create the stunning “Ring of Fire,” when the moon leaves a bright ring of sunlight visible around its edges.
The 2027 and 2028 eclipses pass through some remarkable destinations around the world. We’ve designed four unique expeditions to exceptional viewing locations in Patagonia, Andalucía, Morocco, and Australia, combining the drama of an eclipse with incredible landscapes, wildlife, and culture.
Solar eclipse expeditions are some of the most sought-after photography trips we offer. With limited viewing locations and small group sizes, departures often fill quickly once reservations open. Miss one, and the next comparable opportunity may be years away.
These expeditions are crafted by photographers to maximize image-making opportunities. Each itinerary is designed to deliver diverse and rewarding photography experiences, with the eclipse as the unforgettable centerpiece.
Join us for an unforgettable photography expedition through Northern Patagonia, perfectly timed for the annular solar eclipse on February 6, 2027. This 12-day adventure combines the rare “ring of fire” eclipse with some of Southern Chile’s most dramatic landscapes, from rugged coastlines and temperate rainforests to glaciers, turquoise lakes, and soaring Andean peaks.
We begin on Chiloé Island, known for its colorful stilt houses, wooden churches, and moody Pacific coast. A private boat excursion takes us to the Puñihuil Islets, the only place in the world where Humboldt and Magellanic Penguins nest together, along with sea lions and abundant seabirds.
The highlight comes early as we photograph the annular solar eclipse from the wild coastline of Tepuhueico Park, capturing the glowing ring of the sun above the Pacific Ocean.
From there we venture deeper into Patagonia, exploring the ancient forests of Pumalín National Park, cruising to the massive San Rafael Glacier, and photographing the vibrant blue formations of the Marble Caves on Lake General Carrera. Our journey concludes in the dramatic alpine scenery of Cerro Castillo National Park, with opportunities to photograph Andean condors soaring above the Patagonian steppe.
Blending a rare celestial event with Patagonia’s extraordinary landscapes and wildlife, this photographer-focused expedition offers a truly remarkable way to experience one of the wildest regions on Earth.
